Description
We had very low yields on the steep east-facing slopes of the Highbow Hill in Yarra Glen in 2022 and were very lucky to be able to purchase fruit from old vines at the esteemed Seville Estate. These two distinct sites have married beautifully, the delicate aromas of the upper Yarra site playful amongst the darker Highbow component.
Handpicked and partly crushed whole bunches of Syrah were macerated for 14-21 days before pressing to older French oak hogsheads for the completion of ferments and maturation until spring.
It was blended and bottled in November 2022. 220 dozen produced.

The 2022 season
The 2021/22 season was the third successive cool season, and the wines of 2022 are outstanding. Adequate rain throughout the season and generally cool conditions made for a slow and steady vine development, slow ripening with fantastic natural acidity and amazing flavour development. The wines have purity, balance and intensity with profound ageing capacity.
